The
two infertility-related functions of the National
Perinatal Statistics Unit (NPSU) are to monitor the perinatal
outcomes of assisted reproduction and assess the effectiveness of
treatment.
The NPSU and Reproductive Technology Accreditation
Committee (RTAC) data collection procedures have been reviewed by
a working group chaired by DR Peter Illingworth of the Department
of Reproductive Medicine at Westmead Hospital.
The objective is to establish a single data collection
process that will fulfill the purposes of both the NPSU and RTAC.
PDF files on this site provide information on the
new system of data collection. Further information will be placed
on the site as it becomes available.
A research officer will be appointed to move around
the country assisting units in the installation of software and
understanding of the new procedures. The existing and new reporting
systems will overlap by 12 months to avoid disruption.
