The Fertility Society of Australia is the peak body representing scientists, doctors, researchers, nurses, consumers and counsellors in reproductive medicine in Australia and New Zealand.
One in six Australian couples suffer infertility.
Infertility is most simply defined as the inability of a couple to achieve conception after a year of unprotected intercourse, or the inability to carry pregnancies to a live birth.
However, many couples suffering infertility problems can be successfully treated with medical or surgical techniques, or lifestyle changes.
Infertility is shared equally among men and women, and in the vast majority of cases a physical problem can be diagnosed.
The Fertility Society of Australia is also at the forefront of research and treatment for disorders relating to contraception, endometriosis, premature menopause, sexually transmitted disease and cancer.
This website will keep you at the forefront of global developments in the treatment of infertility. It will be constantly updated with information of importance and relevance to:
- Members of the Fertility Society of Australia and associated organisations in Australia and overseas;
- medical professionals, including general practitioners and specialists;
- scientists and researchers;
- nurses; and
- members of the community who experience, or know somebody who is experiencing infertility.
